Tesla has been doing wonders for years now with no major competitor yet. But that may change very soon as a handful of automaker are planning to add electric cars into their current line ups. Aside from the already known manufacturers, a new electric car company “Lucid Motors” will put its first car into production called the “Air”, and this vehicle has a very sleek design. The Tesla Model S starts around the mid $60,000 mark after the federal tax credit of $7,500, but the Lucid Air will start in the low $50,000 range after the same tax credit is applied. That is a great price considering what is comes with, not only does the Lucid Air have a unique design (Tesla’s designs look similar to the Ford Fusion), the Lucid Air comes packed with 400 horsepower with rear-wheel drive and a range of 240 miles compared to Tesla’s 210 mile range. The standard equipment on the Air would also include autonomous technology, a 10-speaker sound system, 10 airbags, 19-inch wheels, and four display screens just to name a few.
If that’s not enough, customers may opt for bigger batteries giving the Air a longer range of 315 miles or even 400 miles. Need more power? Lucid will also offer an all-wheel drive powertrain with a dual-motor packing 1,000 horsepower! Expect well opted models to be above the $100,000 range. The company plans to sell 10,000 models in its first year of production.
