A Chinese startup, Face++ (Face plus plus), has a new breakthrough. They have developed a software which enables anyone to use their face as a payment method or even access facilities that require you to have an access key to enter. Facilities will have a persons face uploaded onto a database and once everything is done, that person may use their face to have automatic access into a facility. A person may also have their face uploaded in a database to authorize transactions by simply flashing their face. The software tracks about 83 different points on a persons face for accuracy, simultaneously. Pretty impressive if you ask me. This new era of face recognition has a lot of potential and we may see a lot more happening with face recognition softwares in the near future such as tracking down criminals as well. I wonder if and when other countries would follow.
